Thank you for contacting my office with your concerns over the Governor’s proposed cuts to state library funding. Hearing the voices of my constituents helps me to serve you the best that I can.

I understand your care and concern for public libraries and echo your feelings. When the House passed its version of the budget in April, I lobbied for and was able to successfully add an amendment which would have increased library funding $5,000,000.00 over the biennium. Unfortunately, the Senate did not approve my amendment and now further budget cuts have been proposed.

I am fully committed to ensuring that Ohio’s state library system remains well funded and one of the best in the country. With the current economic situation, however, difficult decisions may have to be made. I will do what I can to maintain as much funding as possible and will most assuredly keep your thoughts in mind concerning this matter.
